A day and a half after parting with the strange Dwarf Stagen Rockstriker Hakeem found himself trailing after a band of orc raiders. Hakeem had never seen an orc before being so far south from their territory he only had dealings with pirates that sailed down the coast and into the rivers of his dry and arid home land. Later that night Hakeem managed to sneak up on the group of ten and five well placed arrows felled half of the group before they managed to surround him. Hakeem drew the short serrated sword native to his homeland, and readied himself for the onslaught, "five on one hardly seems fair."
"Shouldn't've attacked us dark skin, bit off more'n you could chew this time I'd saw," a large orc hefting a spear said as he jabbed the spear forwards.
"I meant it wasn't fair for you," Hakeem responded as he knocked the spear tip aside with his blade.
The other four orcs chuckled at this and advanced, Hakeem burst into action driving forwards under a club swinging for his head, he came up under the orc's arm and a smaller dagger hidden in Hakeem's sleeve was left embedded in the orc's throat. Spinning quickly to the left Hakeem swung his blade down with his spin knocking aside another spear thrust. Hakeem finished the spin by dropping to one knee and driving his blade into the gut of another orc, a third orc came up on Hakeem's unprotected left, but a short red haired ball of fury slammed into the orc bearing it to the ground. "Looks like ye could use some help south man!"
Hakeem nodded a silent thank you to Stagnen as the red haired orc slammed a bronze colored axe into the fallen orc's face. The spear orc and a second wielding a club came on Hakeem and the spear was sent wide as Hakeem parried the searching tip, as he ducked under the swinging club. Hakeem's boot came up and shattered the knee of the club wielder, and the spear orc fell to the ground Stagen's axe buried into the back of its head.
"I am surprised to say that I am relieved you decided to follow me."
"Bah, wasn't following ye. I been huntin' fer these orcs for a few weeks ye just happened to be fightin' with them when I caught up."
Hakeem couldn't help but note the bulging pack on the dwarf's back but kept silent as he cleaned his blades and returned them to their sheaths. The dwarf nodded his appreciation of the short sword, "that'n's a funny lookin' blade."
"My people use them to cut cacti open so we can harvest the milk. I found it works well on plant and flesh alike." Hakeem replied.
"That it does," Stagnen said as he patted the bandolier of throwing axes strapped across his chest, "but it don't do half as well as me axes."
"I suppose but I'd say my arrows would clear a much greater distance than your axes," Hakeem returned as he set off once again heading north.
"Bah! Ye wouldn't know craftsmanship iffen it bit ye on tha back!" Stagen Rockstriker yelled as he followed after the strange man from the south.
